It has been a while since I posted one of my "not really a challenge" challenges. Again, there is no prize or reward, just a few questions. I see we can no longer add a poll to a post so I will just ask a few questions and total up the answers myself. All answers and comments will be appreciated. Reading the blog story is not required but the results of this survey will appear later here in this post and in the story in a little more than 2 weeks' time.
The Intro to the new Blog story has been posted today. Fruit & Nuts of Story 17 NWS was settled to help supply the Northern trade route customers with fruits so they can make their own ale, cider, and fruit jam. The new settlers aren't sure which fruits would be most wanted for those purposes. Later in the story, a riverboat food merchant named Annine, says she will ask her customers what fruits they would most likely trade for, and she will ask other river boatmen to do the same. She will pass the information on to the settlers of the town of Fruit & Nuts.
So, you are a citizen of one of the settlements along the northern trade route. If asked by Annine or another river boatman, how would you answer the following questions:
1) Does your settlement prefer Ale, Mead, or Cider?
2) What Ale is prefer? Apple, Pear, or Wheat?
3) What fruit would Cider be made from? Apples, Berries, Cherry, Pear, or Plum
4) What fruit would be used to make Jam? Apple, Blueberry, Plum, Rose Hip, or Strawberries
Thank you, and don't forget to eat your vegetables. ;D
1) Cider
2) Pear
3) Apple
4) Rose Hip
And for those hot summer nights -- beer ( made from hops, barley, malt, sugar, yeast ) 8)
Thanks for reply

I still use KIDD's cider and rootbeerm then EV's winery for grapes. for some reason, i keep thinking i have 1 for watermelon wine. never seem to find it in game so mayb it is in the newer CC J's.
1. Cider
2. Wheat
3. Apples
4. Blueberries
I love a pear cider too, but apple cider is my fave!
:) Thanks for replies
@brads3 and
@angainor88, much appreciated.
I've never had any cider but apple which I really like, must check the grocery store for pear.
Just did search for what root beer is made from. It says root bark of the sassafras tree or sarsaparilla vine. Interesting. :) I like root beer, especially with a scoop of ice cream in it. Making note, use Kid root beer with EB ice cream cart. :)
the SWAN from the RH set made cider. KIDD changed it in a later version.
BTW, have your 2 ever made a pickle mod?
No, no pickles and no cucumbers.
Back to challenge (that is not really a challenge) ;D

that depends on what is available. I switcg back and foprth. usuaully uze apple or pear for cider. strawberry or berries for jam,
but this also goes by my northern climate. my dad had a plum tree in CA, never saw 1 elsewhere. and we never had luck with peaches up here. always very small fruit and not very many.
:) Just a reminder, there are only a few more days left to state your town's fruit preferences for making cider and jam.
Results will appear here and in the current blog story by the same name, Fruit & Nuts.
Results as of June 17, 2025
When asked the above questions, humans replied that:
1) Cider was preferred over ale, 3 to 1
2) Ale made from wheat or pears tied
3) Cider made from apples 3 to 1 over berries. Pears would be used if apples not available.
4) Jam from berries, blueberries, and strawberries were preferred 3 to 1 over rose hips, the type of berries depending on availability.
If no fruit was available, there was always root beer that could be made from roots.
