Challenges / Re: Achievement Challenge
Last post by Abandoned - March 04, 2026, 05:48:19 AM
Less stone would be traded away in order to complete the following achievements:

year 63 Stonework         produce 10,000 stone within 100 years
year 64 Fire Fighter      build 40 wells (not 20 as listed in game)
year 67 Highwaymen        build 2,000 paved roads
year 69 Master Builder-   build town hall, 3 churches, 5 boarding houses, 4 markets, 5 hospitals, 2 trading posts & 6 taverns

year 73 Built from Stone    build 100 stone houses
year 74 Jack of All Trades  have population over 200 with workers in every profession for 5 years

Highwaymen was easy to get, I had been paving roads all along for faster travel whenever I had stone to spare.  Master Builder was a bad one, I can't image that on a small mountain map.  I struggled to find places for that many large buildings.  The food supply was steadily dropping.  As soon as the award was received, most of the buildings had to be destroyed.  I struggled to find places for more stone houses without doing further damage. In year 71 the population was 401, there were already citizens starving before the next merchant arrived at the trading post. The 2nd quarry gave out and I had to dig a 3rd one; the lack of a stonecutter during that time delayed getting the Jack of All Trades award.

By year 76, the population was down to 206, there were worker shortages in almost every profession; accepting nomads help fill those jobs but they were uneducated, 200 immigrants were accepted by year 77 when the award arrived.  At least there were plenty of tools for the new workers, but more tools would be traded away.  The population gradually rose from 206 to 287, to 363, and by year 100, back to 401 citizens earning the Established award.

year 77 Immigrants        accept 200 nomads
year 100 Established      have a settlement population of 300 after 100 years

That year there was very little food, and starvation would set in again.  There was nowhere to build another trading post and there was not much left to trade but firewood and tools, both items needed by the citizens.  I would not be able to reach a population of 500, much less 600 and 900 so, I did an evil thing to get the only other award I could get on this map. I built a few more cemeteries and then stopped all food production and trade.  They had tools, warm coats, and ale but they were dropping like flies.  The 7 cemeteries filled up fast and by late winter I received the Tombstone award.

year 100 tombstones        build & fill graveyard with at least 400 graves

That completed 26 achievements on this map and the 6 that were done plus 1 (the Mountain Man) for a total of 33 of the 36 vanilla achievements were done.  Left to do are:

Village - have a population of 600
Town -    have a population of 900
Tenure -  have a population of 500 after 200 years.

Sometime in the future I will probably start a medium sized map and attempt to complete those 3 achievements, but not now.  Playing vanilla Banished was fun but, there are new mods waiting to be tried and new stories to write.  Hope to see eager explorers back in the blog section soon.

thatch is taken by the woodcutter and make bundels with has the name "firewood" to prevent to make a new item..
so the wood cutter takes logs and make firewood and can also take thatch and make firewood.

there are no bannies, no house who can take thatch and burn it. it is to pass by the woodcutter and transform it into "firewood"

I took a screenshot each time an award was given but I will not show all the pictures, many were blurred with heavy rain or screen was center on something not pertaining to the award at the time it was given.  In year 34, I got the Blacksmith award which was soon followed by the Educated award and One with Nature in late spring when the population rose to 401 citizens. That achievement allowed me to build a pasture, the last structure needed to achieve Builder.  That first small pasture held chickens, next I would get sheep so less wool would be obtained from trade.  The Stylish award was received in year 35.  The first crop fields were wheat, and an orchard of walnuts was planted.  I would trade for apple seeds as soon as possible.  I had a sheep pasture by the time I received the Mason award in year 36.  Some stone had been traded away helping to earn the Master Trader award in year 37.

year 34 Blacksmith              have over 200 adults with steel tools for 4 years
year 34 Educated                 have fully educated population of 200 citizens for 4 years
year 34 One with Nature    reach 400 citizens without crop fields, orchards, or pastures
year 34 Builder                    build one of every possible structure (includes well & pasture)
year 35 Stylish                     have over 200 people with warm coats for 4 years
year 36 Mason                    Maintain 2 quarries with 30 workers each for 3 years
year 37 Master Trader        trade 100,000 units

Seeds and livestock were very expensive, and farm field, orchards, and pastures took up a lot of space and forestland. Hunting and gathering production went down but I did manage to get the following awards.  After the awards were received, some of the fields, orchards, and pastures had to be sacrificed to restore forestry, hunting, gathering, and make room for building projects.

year 43 Farmer            acquire 3 types of livestock, 8 types of crop seeds, & 8 types of orchard seeds
year 44 Foodie            in 1 year produce 2000 each from hunting, gathering, fishing, farms, orchards, pastures
year 49 Lumberjack    produce 50,000 logs within 100 years
year 50 Smelter          produce 10,000 iron within 100 years
year 51 Food Variety    grow 8 different plants & 8 different orchards, in a single year
year 58 Livestock        build pastures for 60 cattle, 75 sheep, & 180 chickens

So confused...  Who/what/how does thatch get burned? My towns are inundated with the stuff naturally occurring with RKEC13. Trading posts are filled with it to barter.

So far on this thread I have completed 7 of the 36 vanilla achievements.  The first 4 on the list below were completed on each of the 3 mountain maps, and 3 of those achievements plus the last 3 on the list were completed on the Less One valley map: the less one being the mountain man achievement.  Six achievements plus 1 were done.

Mountain Man        on a small mountain map with harsh climate have 50 people for 20 years
Golden Gate           build a bridge 50 units long
Smiles All Around   have 100 citizens with high happiness for 10 years
Healthy                   have 100 citizens with high healthy for 10 years
Settlement             reach 300 citizens
Uneducated          reach 300 citizens with no school
Isolation                reach 300 citizens with no trading post

I started another valley map hoping to get more if not all of the remaining achievements done.  I meant to use a medium map but started a small one out of force-of-habit; that was a mistake.  I named the new map Sixdone although it should have been Sixdone plus 1. Now that I've made all that perfectly clear, ;D  here is the map info for the new map:

Sixdone Map # 348448143    Valley, Small, Fair, disasters Off, Medium start - population 10 adults with 6 children.

I began the map as I did the others with fishing piers, gatherers, hunters, and foresters but this time I could build a school; remember I still must reach 400 citizens before I can plant crop field, orchards, and have livestock.  By year 15 there was a hospital, cemetery, town hall, a market, a tailor, 2 blacksmiths, 3 schools, and the first trading post was being built.  There would be a total of only 4; more were needed but being hard to place there was no place for another one.  In year 21, the citizens were actually 100% happy and healthy.

The trading post made life easier and made it possible to complete many of the achievements.  I traded away iron tool and hide coats so citizens would use and wear steel tools and warm coats.  Those trade goods plus venison and herbs brought in a lot of food and wool for warm coats.  Ale was made from gathered berries in one tavern and apples in another. The ale brought in a lot of food including the apples to make more ale.  Later a 3rd tavern would make ale from wheat. I did not trade away much wood or firewood; those were needed by the town.  I did however trade away enough goods to be awarded for the first 2 achievements on this map in year 32.  In year 33, the town was Ready for Anything.

year 32 Trader            trade 50,000 units
year 32 Export            stock trading post with 300 steel tools, 200 warm coats, 500 ale
year 32 Miner             maintain 2 mines with 30 workers each for 3 years
year 33 Ready for Anything    store 2,00 each wood & fuel, 200 tools, 200 coats, 30,000 food, simultaneously

Suggestions and Mod Ideas / Re: More wishes by Jewelz
Last post by galensgranny - March 02, 2026, 01:07:51 PM
Quote from: Jewelz on March 02, 2026, 07:58:54 AMRight now I'm working on making a very medieval looking  series of small towns. I'm using only the most old fashioned of houses and businesses.

1.) I would love more houses that are in the same style as the 1 (and only) house that is included with discrepancy's Pick and Hen Tavern.

There's some covers on Redketchup's Training Camp deco, but I cannot get them to be available when I don't load megamod. When I do use megamod, I cheat by putting other houses under those thatch covers and make them look like old cottages.

2.) I would love for someone to create a sandy beach that looks like the one taht DS's Sand mine makes in the Jetties mod, just without the little fence. That would be perfect.

3.) Kid's Animal Pen, but ghosted so I can drop it over the animals that are included in the farmyards, etc.

Thank you!!
