I found an old RK resource file where the clay is flagged Stone | CoalFuel.
Maybe that is it. If you have any old clay mods on top of RKEC, move them down under.

i moved the MEX mod near the top and ran a quick test. the other potters were working with the clay. it will work. just seemed strange that the building could be constructed without issue from the clay but not use it.

Construction does not bother about flags, only the name of the resource.
